Our philosophy

Individuality principle

Our philosophy is underpinned by the individuality principle.  Each clients presents a unique set of circumstances since wants and goals, stage of life, home and work situations vary enormously. Our primary aim is to offer a high quality service at a price that is as reasonable as possible given our level of qualifications.

Methods

We aim to use our expertise and experience to select a path that will see you to your goal.  Our methods of profiling, assessment and training make use of systems that aim to safely and effectively  establish concordance. Accordingly, we might make use of standard assessments (height, weight, body composition, cardio assessments etc) with one client, but assess another using a detailed, scored health questionnaire. Our methods vary according to individual circumstances and requirements. 
We've been asked recently if our training is like that seen on Britain's Biggest Loser. By way of reassurance, we never train clients in that manner: all programmes are gradually progressive and follow the guidelines of the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM). New programmes are constructed every 6 weeks and steadily get harder.     

Science is central to what we do

We tend to refer to the foremost health and fitness organisations in the world.  For our health and fitness work, we are guided by the American College of Sports Medicine.  For our strength and conditioning work, we construct our programmes to align with the National Strength and Conditioning Association or the UK Strength and Conditioning Association. We tend to avoid gimmicks, fads and 'gurus'.  Accordingly, simplistic, singular training systems are avoided and, whilst we recognise the requirement of undulating protein intake for athletes according to training phase, we do not sell any form of protein supplement.  We are happy to supply highly detailed, peer-reviewed ACSM or NSCA work on health, fitness or nutrition to our clients.   

Selection of our PTs

Our PTs are selected to enable our principles to be upheld.  They must hold high-level academic qualifications (minimum of an honours degree in sport or a related area) as well as a range of instructor qualifications (we have PTs with UK and US qualifications as well as qualifications in Pilates and Exercise to Music) that will assist them to choose methods to reflect circumstance.   
PTCS places clients at the centre of the business. We have no interest in being celebrities ourselves and would rather be known as high quality professionals; our trainers are selected accordingly.
